Summer Youth Internship 2025
Hello, my name is Preston (middle picture) and I'm the Youth Director here at Deerbrook. The Summer Internship is truly one of the parts of Shield Student Ministries I enjoy the most. I love collaborating and sharing the mission with passionate young people. We really have a special group of students here. They love to be together. They like going deep in our studies and discussions. They love being goofy and making each other laugh. And they LOVE our Summer Interns. My vision for Shield Student Ministries can be summed up into three goals:
Authentically connect with students in Godly relationship. We want ALL of our students to be seen, heard and known. As we consistently show up for them, we earn the trust to speak into their lives with support, encouragement and challenge.
Be their spiritual training wheels. We want to teach them the practices and disciplines with which we can build and maintain a relationship with God. We do this side by side with them until one day they can take off the training wheels and carry their faith on their own.

Essential Details
- This position is a 10 week commitment (dates vary from summer to summer) and pays $2,000 total.
- 25 hours weekly
- Summer Interns are expected to attend Youth Camp with us (paid for by us). Dates and details during interview process.
- Housing is provided if necessary. More details during the interview process.
Job Description
The main priority for your summer will be to build relationships with our students. Be a supporter and encourager in their lives.
Participate in planning the student ministry calendar for the summer.
Plan and teach youth lessons for Wednesday Youth Group and Sunday Youth Church.
Plan and lead two weekly activity days.
Assist in planning and executing the annual Summer Lock-In event.
Meet weekly with Preston to process the past youth activities and plan future youth events.
Meet every other week with a spiritual mentor from our congregation to process your experiences through the summer and guide you in your own relationship with God.
