LOCAL MISSION SUPPORT
We are involved in serving our community and sharing the love of God in many ways. Here is a list of our ongoing partnerships.
The "Garden of Eatin'" is one way we use our "backyard". It is planted, weeded, watered and harvested by volunteers. Fruit trees, which were planted in 2013, will provide fresh apples and pears in years to come. Produce from the garden is available for non-profits and others. More than 1,000 pounds of produce was produced in each of the last two years.
Habitat for Humanity
Deerbrook typically supplies a team of construction volunteers annually to this vital housing partnership.
Langsford House is one of 42 schools in the Missouri Division Of Youth Services School District. It is a alternate school that serves 10-13 boys in grades 5-12. We serve the boys in various ways, including tutoring, providing holiday meals and parties, etc.
MEADOW LANE ELEMENTARY
We are an official "Partner In Education" with Meadow Lane Elementary. This opens the door for a wonderful opportunity to help children in math and reading skills and provide encouragement to the staff and administration.
Pro Deo is a local non-profit that works with youth in our community. We have been involved in various ways, most recently by participating in their "Christmas in July" event to provide supplies for their organization.
REED PERFORMING ARTS COMPANY
We partner with an incredible local dance & theatre company that creates and performs 3 high quality children's musical productions each year.
WHEELS TO FREEDOM
Wheels to Freedom is part of a global outreach program overseen by members of our congregation. Wheels to Freedom collects used wheelchairs that are rehabilitated and distributed to individuals in third-world countries by Hope Haven, Intl.
Starting in the Fall of 2017, Deerbook will host the large group gathering of Young Life of Lee's Summit. This exciting youth ministry reaches out to all youth and gently points them to Jesus through caring relationships. Young Life meets on Tuesday evenings during the school year at 7:47 pm.
